When Looking For Assisted Living

If you are looking for assisted living or Senior housing there are a few things that you might want to think about.

The first question should always be whether or not there is a place for your parent to live with a family member but if this is not an option your second question needs to be location.

If the facility is closer to family, then the senior will be more likely to have regular visitors, which we know is important in their health.

The age of the building should be taken into consideration.  The older the builder is the more likely it is to be either unsafe, in disrepair or even infested with something.

Cleanliness needs to always be a factor in which facility you choose.  If a facility is not clean it can greatly affect the health of its residents.

What is the staff like?  Happy staff members that lover their job, means happy seniors that love where they live. Try to find housing that also offers a variety of activities for the seniors to do.  If seniors live a more active lifestyle they are more likely to live longer, more fulfilled lives.

Do your research, ask questions; ask others about the facilities before choosing one.

Web directories can help in finding all the options in your area.  They can also give reviews on the buildings, facilities, staff etc.

Remember that your parent or grandparent is now relying on you, help them through this hard time and use the resources at your deposal.
